Sanctuary

This is the title track for the Sanctuary album. The album honors the creative imagination of the individual. Part of our purpose here in this world is to dream, imagine, and create. We create from our experiences and share our unique visions with the universe.

Video Works by Dr. Lawrence W. Moore

Spectral Voices in the Light

Broadcast waves are frequencies within the electro-magnetic spectrum. They are bands of light. Within this light, it has been known that spirits and disembodied beings can communicate. While the messages are faint and enigmatic, the search for them yields intriguing moments of artistically driven feeling and emotion.

The audio material is composed of various searches through the short wave bands of radio waves. These recordings were time and pitch altered using Csound. The resulting audio was further crafted using Spear. All of the orchestration of this material and its spatial panning were done in Sonar. The video was created using processing to generate semi-random distributions of patterns to resemble white noise. Processing was also used to distribute the spirit faces around within the white noise. The final production stage was filtering and video production work performed in Sony Vegas.

Fountain Talk

Fountain Talk

The fountain is a metaphor for the communication that comes through life itself. Spewing forth, in a relentless stream comes the mysterious and dark realities that we so desire not to face. The video was created using Ultra Fractal to generate the fractal imagery and Sony Vegas to filter and process the fractal videos. The audio was generated through granular synthesis utilizing Csound. The generated audio tracks were mixed and processed in Sonar.

Angel Wing

Angel Wing

The disembodied beings that surround us have strange and wonderful powers that baffle our imaginations. They can be playful and loving, or destructive and cruel. Either way, they live here among us.

I created the video in Processing, where I made a semi-fractal image from small graphic elements. This video was then taken into Vegas, where I applied effects and 3d motion. For the music, I recorded tapping and striking sounds on metal speaker stands and performed Fast Fourier Transfers effects ont hem in Spear. I then mixed and applied delay and equalization in Sonar.

Accepted for performance at the 13th Biennial Symposium of Arts and Technology at Connecticut College

Establishment

Establishment

This piece is based on the first 8 hexagrams of the I Ching. The meaning behind these hexagrams seems to outline a story of creation and ultimate establishment of this creation. They outline the birth, nurturing, struggles, conflict, and ultimate accomplishment of the creation.

I wrote this piece in Csound and sequenced the surround panning and EWI part in Sonar. I made the fractal that is the base for the video in Processing and then did the video production work and effects in Sony Vegas.

This piece is intended for live EWI performance and fixed audio/video playback. It is intended for surround, b ut can also be performed in stereo. Please Contact me if you would like information and materials for the performance of this work.

Beautiful Synchronicities

Beautiful Synchronicities

Beautiful Synchronicities explores consciousness at all levels. It is based ont he metaphysical principle that their is a conscious source to all thought. Our thoughts germination from a central source of experience and become more complex through our life experiences. The act of understanding our thoughts, where they come from, and how we can decipher their meaning is a crucial part of the life journey.

The fixed audio was developed in Csound and spread out through a surround field in Sonar. The base fractal video for each movement was developed in Processing. The final video production and effects were done in Sony Vegas.

The voice part is intended to be performed live with real time processing and fixed audio/video playback. There is a score and fixed media in stereo and 5.1 format for performance purposes. If you are interested in performing this piece, please Contact Me.

I

This movement outlines the metaphysical principles behind the concepts of archetypes eminating from the source of consciousness and out they are reiterated into nesting and overlapping layers to form complex thought patterns.

Sna;Drive

SnapDrive

The snap represents the properties of an instant. It is a fragment of time that is barely measurable. When set in a steady flow, snaps can form rhythmic patterns, and even solid forms that create gestures and blocks of their own moving energy. This piece is based on snaps and their kinetic need to drive.

I composed this piece using a Csound instrument that I developed and then sequenced in Sonar. The video was produced in Final Cut by Liza Seigido.

If you are interested in performing this piece from higher quality, non-compressed video and audio, please Contact Me with your request, so that I can provide you with the media.
